Strategy, What’s wrong with you?
Strategy needs to be agile and value oriented
Strategy is an art, art gets destroyed during the war. Nowadays, leaders create their business strategies like they are fighting a war. One of the reason why you see Art of War by Sun Tzu found its way in the leadership lessons.
Fighting continuous war is a very costly and destructive affair. There is no correct strategy for fighting infinite war.
But as per modern leadership, your strategy should be sharp to cut the competition.
Sometimes even if competition doesn’t exist, but leaders creates the vision & strategies as if it does. They create a strategy on “What ifs” which turns into fearmongering strategy. In panic, an army of good people restlessly executes the flawed strategy.
In reality if you have nice ways to be ahead of the war, you will be avoiding the business battles.
Leaders should stop fighting strategy war. War happens due to conflicts. Business is not a war. It is time that we start looking at the strategy from a new perspective. In business, you don’t fight a war if you believe in what you are doing.
“Being valuable to your customers’ more than yesterday” is the only strategy for the business.
Just think about it, if your customers’ believe in you more than yesterday, you don’t have to fight a war. You are already creating an empire by bringing your valuable Customers’ on your side.
But sadly, current businesses creates a strategy to fight 5 front wars.
Can business strategy be agile? If yes, then how is it different from tactics?
Businesses should create strategies around their customers’ need.
Needs are agile and if you are serving your customers’ need, you will end up being agile by design
Tactic is all about maneuvering on how you execute your strategy on a day-to-day basis.
Strategy doesn’t change on daily basis if it does then it’s a tactic
Having an agile strategy means you can understand the customers’ needs much better than anyone else. Strategy is about giving your customers’ more value from your existing solutions.
The core part of agility is to get the feedback as early as possible. Same thing with the agile strategy. It needs to be executed as a proof of concept (POC) before a big roll-out.
Agile strategy should not be like thinking abstractly and executing it from thousand feet rather it must be the strategy which works
